I am a stress management scientist who helps busy, everyday superheroes—like you—stress less!
After receiving my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia, I began working for a start-up company. The 70-hour weeks that I worked were brutal and stressful!
Soon my life took some unexpected turns: my father unexpectedly passed away, making me the sole caregiver for my disabled mother. I gave birth to my first child. And I received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. And these events all occurred within the course of 1 year. My stress levels escalated to an all-time high, which exacerbated my symptoms and adversely affected my physical and mental health. I experienced mounting anxiety, depression, fatigue, muscle spasticity, and nerve issues. About 6 months after my diagnosis, when my symptoms were at their worst, I had a personal awakening: my best shot at achieving her optimal health and wellness was to manage my stress.
Stress management is essential—not only for those with chronic illnesses, but also for caretakers and those who experience extraordinary levels of stress in the workplace. I have dedicated nearly a decade to researching the science behind stress management tools and techniques. Today, I help my clients implement positive lifestyle modifications so that they can increase their productivity—and live healthier and happier lives!
