Hi! I’m Dr. Jess Norris!
I am a stress management scientist who helps busy, everyday superheroes—like you—stress less!
After receiving my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia, I began working for a start-up company. The 70-hour weeks that I worked were brutal and stressful!
Soon my life took some unexpected turns: my father unexpectedly passed away, making me the sole caregiver for my disabled mother. I gave birth to my first child. And I received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. And these events all occurred within the course of 1 year. My stress levels escalated to an all-time high, which exacerbated my symptoms and adversely affected my physical and mental health. I experienced mounting anxiety, depression, fatigue, muscle spasticity, and nerve issues. About 6 months after my diagnosis, when my symptoms were at their worst, I had a personal awakening: my best shot at achieving her optimal health and wellness was to manage my stress.
Stress management is not only essential for individuals with chronic illnesses. Professional women who are also responsible for the wellbeing of others—including young children, disabled family members, or aging parents—also need to make sure they are managing their stress. Unfortunately, these ‘unsung superheroes’ often struggle with prioritizing themselves and finding time for self-care, which puts them at an elevated risk for physical and mental health issues!
I have dedicated nearly over a decade to researching the science behind stress management tools and techniques. Today, I help my clients implement positive lifestyle modifications so that they can increase their productivity—and live healthier and happier lives!
