The Lens Behind the Work

I help organizations see the effort work doesn’t always show.

Most organizations can see outcomes.

They can see whether the work got done,
whether the deadline was met or the person performed.

But they often miss what it costs.

They miss the energy people spend translating unclear expectations, adapting to communication norms, masking, compensating, over-preparing,
or working around systems that make good work harder than it needs to be.

That hidden effort is where my work begins.

Why This Work Matters to Me

For years, I have been interested in one question:

Why do some people have to spend so much more energy than others to achieve the same result?

That question has shaped my work as a scientist, speaker, neurodivergent professional, parent, and systems thinker.

I have seen capable people blamed for struggling in environments that were never designed with their brains, energy, communication styles, or ways of working in mind.

I have also seen what happens when leaders stop treating friction as a personal failure and start treating it as useful information.

That shift changes everything.

Because the future of work cannot be built on endless individual adaptation.

It has to be built on better systems.

What I Bring

I combine scientific training, corporate experience, neurodiversity advocacy, and lived experience to help organizations understand what is happening beneath the surface of work.

My work focuses on invisible effort, organizational friction, leadership behavior, communication, and future workforce readiness.

The goal is not to make work easier in a shallow way.

The goal is to make work clearer, more sustainable, and better designed for the people inside it.

A Researcher’s Lens. A Human-Centered Practice.

Jess Norris, PhD, is a speaker, scientist, systems thinker, and founder of Amazing Brain Consulting. She helps organizations recognize hidden patterns, reduce workplace friction, and build systems where more people can do their best work without unnecessary adaptation costs.

Her work brings together research, lived experience, and practical organizational insight to help leaders see what traditional performance conversations often miss.

Most organizations can see the output. Fewer can see the effort it takes to produce it.
